7000001450-GHG Mitigation Technical Advisory and Assessment Services-Euroclima plays a central role in advancing the EU-LAC strategic partnership by concretely contributing to the EU-LAC GGIA. As the flagship regional programme of the EU for climate and environmental action in LAC, Euroclima provides a critical platform to support the implementation of shared commitments to jointly address climate change and biodiversity loss. It seeks to contribute to a sustainable, resilient and inclusive transition through climate mitigation and adaptation efforts, including the protection, restoration, conservation of biodiversity as well as the promotion of a circular economy. To this end it focuses on contributing to the enabling conditions needed towards a green and just transition. It provides crucial expertise, technical assistance, and policy dialogue to partner countries, facilitating the integration of sustainability measures and advancing the GGIA's mission. Euroclima helps bridge capacity and funding gaps, playing a vital role in achieving GGIA's ambitious targets and in increasing access to finance and investments. Building on lessons learned from its earlier phases, Euroclima has evolved into a flexible and adaptive regional programme. Originally launched in 2010 and expanded during 2017-2023 as EUROCLIMA+, the Programme initially supported 18 participating Latin American countries in the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. It is in the current phase (2023-2027), that also Caribbean countries and aspects related to biodiversity and circular economy were included in what is now known as Euroclima, covering in total 33 countries in LAC. Currently, the contract "Euroclima Global Gateway" (2027-2028) is being prepared and will provide additional resources and alignments to consider for the implementing agencies of the Programme, including GIZ. Euroclima is co-financed by the EU" s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Implemented under a Team Europe approach, Euroclima is implemented through coordinated efforts by eight organizations: the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID); the AFD Group, including Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and Expertise France (EF), although AFD will conclude its participation in 2026; the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC); the Fundación Internacional y para Iberoamérica de Administración y Políticas Públicas (FIAP); the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH; the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The Programme is co-funded by the EU and the German Federal Government.

Engineering support for the development of up to three PtL pilot plants in up to three countries-The International Power-to-X Hub is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) and is financed through the International Climate Initiative as part of Germany"s hydrogen and Power- to-X policy framework. The International Power-to-X Hub supports the transition to climate- neutral industries and economies by promoting sustainable Power-to-X solutions where direct electrification is not yet feasible, especially in hard-to-abate sectors such as aviation, maritime transport, and energy-intensive industries. Power-to-X enables the production of fuels and chemical feedstocks from renewable electricity and sustainable carbon or nitrogen sources and is therefore a key instrument for replacing fossil-based inputs in sectors including chemicals, fertilisers, steel, cement, aviation, and shipping. The project is based on the understanding that renewable electricity must be used directly wherever possible and that Power-to-X should be applied specifically in areas where no more efficient decarbonisation option is currently available. The PtX Hub has already supported partner countries in developing allocation scenarios for hydrogen and other PtX products, including related value chain analyses. Current and previous activities have been carried out with public-sector partners in Morocco, South Africa, Kenya and Argentina, as well as in other countries of the Global South. At the same time, the International Power-to-X Hub recognises the major development opportunities associated with sustainable PtX markets, particularly for countries with strong renewable energy potential, which can reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports, lower emissions, build new value chains, and position themselves in emerging international markets for climate-neutral fuels and products. A central principle of the project is that sustainability must guide market development from the outset. Power-to-X is only climate- compatible when based on renewable electricity and robust environmental and social standards across the value chain, supported by appropriate certification systems and reliable investment conditions. To date, the PtX Hub has helped identify concrete business cases and derive recommendations for improving regulatory frameworks for sustainable PtX markets. These activities are intended to support pilot-scale implementation and prepare partner countries for the future domestic use and export of electricity-based sustainable fuels. Working with public and private sector partners, we aim to accelerate practical, country-specific pathways towards the production and use of sustainable hydrogen derivatives, e-fuels, and other PtX products, thereby contributing to global climate goals and long-term sustainable economic transformation.0004174

7000000558-Technical assistance and capacity development to SUN partner countries, in support of implementation of SUN 4.0 strategy-The Multi-Donor Action "Capacity for Nutrition 2.0" (C4N 2.0) is jointly co- financed by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as part of the BMZ Global Programme (GP) "Knowledge and Policy Coherence for Nutrition" (KPCN). C4N 2.0 contributes to the following overall objective: "To contribute to the transition to inclusive, climate-neutral, resilient and sustainable agri-aquatic food systems". The specific objective of C4N 2.0 is "to support the nutrition and gender sensitive transformation of agri-food systems". Good nutrition is a human rights marker and a driver of health, resilience, economic development and stability. Multiple crises and competing budgets jeopardize shifts toward efforts to transform agri-food systems to support healthy and sustainable diets. Effective nutrition requires multisectoral approaches and sustained investments across sectors. Strengthened nutrition governance will be essential for advancing nutrition integration, including a reinforced Team Europe approach and enhanced multistakeholder engagement and coordination. Ensuring sustainable, resilient, and healthy diets is critical to both improve nutrition and mitigate climate change. Climate change exacerbates all forms of malnutrition via reduced yields, damaged infrastructure and heightened disease susceptibility, while today"s food systems significantly drive climate change and environmental degradation. Healthy diets are key to poverty reduction and climate adaptation/mitigation. Achieving SDG 2 within planetary boundaries requires jointly addressing the food-nutrition security, climate and gender interlinkages. Implementation challenges include low political prioritization, capacity and investment gaps, and inadequate frameworks. C4N 2.0 addresses the nutrition-climate-gender nexus to drive food systems transformation for healthy, sustainable diets. Building on N4G momentum and the EUR6.5bn Team Europe pledge, C4N 2.0 promotes nutrition integration in global, regional and national agendas, supporting climate-smart, gender-transformative policies and interventions, including via Global Gateway blended finance investments. It strengthens the alliance between the European Commission and Germany, extending to EU member states and like-minded countries (Team Europe+) for greater coherence and efficiency in line with Global Gateway. This will be achieved through 4 mutually reinforcing outputs: Output 1: Positioning - Coherent and evidence-based positions on the Nutrition-climate-gender nexus are developed to promote healthy and sustainable diets in a Team Europe+ approach. Output 2: Advisory -Increased technical capacities of INTPA, EUDs and BMZ to scale up effective, equitable, sustainable, and resilient nutrition policy responses and outreach at global, regional, and national levels. Output 3: Country support - Improved technical and institutional capacities to implement evidence-based recommendations for integrated climate- and gender-sensitive nutrition action in (SUN) partner countries. Output 4: Stakeholder Engagement - Nutrition integration is supported through civil society organisations, think tanks and academia. These outputs will be implemented through tailored technical assistance (TA), capacity development (CD), grant mechanisms, and multilevel coordination with EU and BMZ partners. The Action builds on the achievements of the first C4N phase and leverages established networks in Senegal, Kenya, and Thailand as regional hubs. C4N 2.0 has a duration of 41 months (1 April 2026 to 31 August 2029).
